November 3, 2007. James plays the inaugural Kapono Ukulele Festival in Auckland, New Zealand. Performers include Azo Bell, Sione Aleki, and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.
November 16-17, 2007. Queen's University in Kingston, ON, presents the 2007 Plucked Instrument Festival
featuring performances and masterclasses with James, Erdem Helvaciglu (Turkey, electroacoustic
guitar), Vincea
McLelland (France, classical guitar),
Lakshmi Ranganathan (Kingston,
classical veena), Robert Simms
(Toronto, world music).
Lectures and masterclasses will focus on "the potential and value of plucked instruments for classroom use." James will present material and strategies from Ukulele in the Classroom, an upcoming method book series co-authored by James and J. Chalmers Doane.
